Product introduction:Theia SL183A 5 megapixels 1.8 - 3.0mm varifocal using Linear Optical Technology?
Ultra wide lenses using Linear Optical Technology?
Theia's family of ultra wide angle lenses incorporates patented Linear Optical Technology? which allows an ultra wide field of view while optically correcting barrel distortion in the lens. No dewarping software is required. This optical distortion correction increases the image resolution at the image edges, thus improving the probability of detection and identification of individuals, especially at the image edges. All these lenses are multi megapixel resolution supporting cameras up to five megapixels with a sharp image from side to side.

Theia offers several families high quality megapixel lenses designed to high image resolution standards. The use of aspheric lens elements and extra low dispersion glass types (ELD-glass) enable the unique features of each of Theia's lens families, be it ultra wide angle or short telephoto. Theia's process of precision engineering and prototype development and validation assure every lens shipped to our customers will be consistently high quality. Choosing the right lens for your application depends on many factors including field of view, required image resolution, day/night capability, and cost. To assist in lens selection, Theia offers an image simulator/ lens calculator that relates FOV, resolution, and object distance. We also offer many educational materials for a better understanding of the technology and selection of Theia's optimal lens for your application.
SL183
Theia's SL183 lenses provide ultra wide field of view without distortion. These are varifocal lenses allowing the user to optimize the field of view from wide angle to ultra wide. The lenses incorporate patented Linear Optical Technology?which allows an ultra wide field of view without barrel distortion unlike other wide angle lenses not including Theia's technology. This rectilinear design allows increased resolution at the edges of the image thus increasing the probability of detection.
Similar to Theia's other lenses, the SL183 is a high quality lens designed to allow the installer to take full advantage of the high resolution of HD and multi megapixel cameras. The lens can be used on cameras up to five megapixel resolutiongiving a crisp image from edge to edge.
In addition, the SL183 series includes EasyZoom? which allows the installer to focus the lens once and then adjust zoom or magnification to give the optimized field of view. Only minor focus optimization is required after zooming. There is no need for the iterative focus-zoom-focus method of setup required for other varifocal lenses.
The lens is IR corrected for use with true Day/Night cameras. This IR correction focuses IR light from artificial illumination at the same plane as the visible light allowing the image to remain in focus when the Day/Night camera switches to night mode. Unlike lenses without IR correction, the night image will not be out of focus when using IR illumination.
This lens is also available in a C-mount version for machine vision applications.
